As series of success stories; the pitfall of preoperative chemotherapy in unresectable carcinoma of the colon

Bladder Cancer

Ned Tijdschr Geneeskd. 2020 Jun 25;164:D4948.

This comment is a reflection on the case studies of three patients with T4 cancer of the colon with bladder invasion. All three patients were successfully treated with preoperative chemotherapy followed by surgery. Although we want to underline this result, we must also emphasise that some patients will not benefit from this treatment. Future research should clarify the short- and long-term effects of preoperative chemotherapy followed by surgery. Until then, it is important that patients are

aware of the actual intention of the treatment plan, and that there is a chance that the intended targets will not be met.
