Diffuse large B-Cell lymphoma associated with paraneoplastic Guillain-Barré syndrome: A diagnostic and therapeutic challenge

Deb B, et al. Hematol Oncol Stem Cell Ther 2020.

Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes are a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and can make treatment of these patients more challenging. We report the case of a 67-year-old man with high grade diffuse large B-cell lymphoma who presented with severe paraneoplastic Guillain-Barré syndrome. He was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin therapy and definitive chemoimmunotherapy, and achieved a full neurological recovery. In this report, we discuss various mechanisms of neurological

dysfunction seen in lymphomas. Prompt oncologic treatment and immunotherapy for Guillain-Barré syndrome if instituted concurrently and early in the course of the disease can be associated with the best outcomes.
